Tony "T-Flo" Malacara
J & J Hip Hop Dance Company
Dance Assistant & Choreographer
Since Tony Malacara was a little boy, he had a desire for dance and especially for Hip Hop. He remembers watching amazing hip-hop dance crews on “America’s Best Dance Crew” and in dance movies, wishing he could do the things that they were doing.
When Tony was 11 years old he had the opportunity to take after school hip-hop dance classes. Within a year Tony proved he was meant to be a dancer, as he impressed and amazed his Instructors and worked hard to excel in all the choreography and styles thrown at him. Eventually he was given a spot on the touring Hiz Hop Dance Crew who travel in and out of Colorado spreading hope and inspiration to people who are broken. In doing so, Tony also gained hope and confidence in his self. Tony did not stop there, as he took on additional dance training in Jazz, Modern, and Ballet through his school’s Arts & Talent Programs at Mitchell High School. Meanwhile Tony was privileged to receive the “Can2Dance” Lifetime Dance Training Scholarship, to continue his hip hop dance training at J & J Hip Hop Dance Company. From a junior student to now a senior in High School, Tony has been teaching and choreographing his own dance class of students at Mitchell. He was challenged to work with students who were learning hip hop for the first time, and was further privileged to choreograph them for a benefit performance at Mitchell. Tony received an honorary trophy from Mitchell High School for his skilled work and dedication to his classes. In January of 2013, Tony was selected as 1 of 3 star dancers to take on a paid professional role of one of the Kia Hamstars for their 2013 Hamstar Tour. Tony was featured as a Dancing Hamstar on Fox21, SOCOCW, Sky Sox Games, Commercials, and much more.
Currently, Tony is a Dance Assistant and Choreographer at J&J Hip Hop Dance Company and is training just as hard as he did when he first began dancing.
“I realized that if I have passion and confidence I could do amazing things, and I want to build that same confidence and passion in the students at J&J.” –Tony M.
