Short Film Project: "Pieces of Us"
Set in a small, rundown thrift store on the edge of a fading town, this coming-of-age drama follows a group of friends who treat the store as more than just a workplace — it’s their escape, their hangout, their safe place.
When the city inspector delivers news that the store will be shut down in three weeks, tensions rise between the kids, the owner Mark, and his daughter Nia. Some want to fight to save the store; others think it’s time to let go, and loyalties begin to clash. Friendships are tested, family bonds strained, and hidden feelings exposed as they all confront what the store really means to them.
At its heart, the film is about belonging, identity, and the fight to hold on to the only place that feels like home when the rest of life feels broken.

The short film will be casting the following roles.
Mark Holloway (40s)
The weary but protective owner of the thrift store. Caring father, strict yet gentle, trying to keep the place alive while battling his own doubts.
Nora Wells (19)
College freshman. Responsible and outspoken. Often frustrated with the boys’ immaturity. Protective of the store and the first to push back against giving up. Noah’s sister.
Nia Holloway (18)
High school senior. Mark’s daughter. Dutiful and hardworking, but growing tired of carrying the weight of the store. Honest, conflicted, and quietly yearning for more.
Matteo Mora (20)
College sophomore. The jokester of the group. Uses humor to cope with his own struggles. Playful, impulsive, and often the one to break tension—sometimes at the wrong time.
Noah Wells (19)
College freshman. Playful and carefree, quick to defend fun over responsibility. Loves the store but doesn’t always take things seriously. Nora’s brother.
Aaron (18)
College freshman. Quiet and observant, but awkward. Tries to blend in until his feelings for Nia push him into the spotlight. Supportive and wise beyond his years, but easily flustered.
Zavior (19)
College freshman. Careless and reckless, often messy and sarcastic. Doesn’t work at the store but tags along, stirring trouble without meaning to. Loyal in his own rough-edged way.
Customer 1 (30s-50s)
Dismissive shopper. Complains the store is falling apart. Represents the outside world’s disregard for the place.
Imani (20)
College sophomore. Easygoing and warm-hearted. Balances between laughing with the group and calming tension. Nora’s close friend, supportive but less directly invested in the store.
Customer 2 (30s-50s)
Customer 1’s companion. Belittles the store with sharp remarks. Leaves with no care, further fueling Mark’s frustration.
Mr. Vaughan (40s-50s)
City code inspector. Cold, professional, slightly elitist. Brings the bad news of the shutdown. Represents authority and outside pressure on the store.
